28th March – 6 April 2008 held at the Atwell Gallery, Alfred Cove

Another great night at the opening of our Cultural Connections exhibition as can be seen by the photographs. We were delighted to have many special guests at the event, particularly the artists from the Mowanjum Community including Donny Woolagoodja, Alison Burgu, Sandra Mungulu, Marjorie Mungulu, Leah Umbagai and members of their family. We were also very pleased to have the Hon Premier Alan Carpenter and his wife Annmarie present, and the Acting Japanese Consul-General Mr Yuichi Inoue, wife Noriko and daughter Tomomi.
As intended, the meeting made cultural connections between the Kimberley, Perth and Kyoto in Japan, through the presence of the artists, and also our guest master weaver Mr Seiji Konishi from the Kawashima Textile School who collaborated with Nyoongar Bush Sculptor Janine McAullay Bott to create the amazing Samurai costume pictured below.
If you weren’t there on the night, enjoy it now with these fabulous images taken on the night by photographer Kandi Terrar.
